"You know, the businessmen in town had quite a time making it too. When the farmer don't have money, they don't either.
"You know there were 'open nights' on Wednesdays and Saturday nights to get people in to town and trade. They would have free shows. I remember they had free shows in Exeter. It was in the back end of the fellow that hatched out chickens. There was a big wall they painted white, and we all sat there as best we could and watched the free show. That brought people into town on Wednesdays and Saturday nights."
